THE "third force" seems to be a phrase that is capturing the imagination of political parties and civil society.

Instead of joining the Barisan Nasional (BN) or the Pakatan Rakyat, why can't a party find its own niche and survive? Why can't it struggle independently and choose to cooperate with the two larger players on its own terms?

Sabah population increases by 285%, whilst Malaysia's population iincreases by only 113% - something is very wrong..

There are BIG questions that the Barisan Nasional government, currently led by Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has got to answer about Sabah's "new" citizens - persons who have since 30 years ago have suddenly become Malaysian citizens or have acquired PR Status. I refer to the Malaysiakini report Sapp MPs to move no-confidence vote.

The prime minister , in reacting to this announcement, called for the BN supreme council meeting to discuss Sapp's intention. Naturally, the component party leaders with the exception of Sapp showed their unstinting support for the PM.

Of course they have their own reasons for doing so. Some supported him because they are holding ministerial ...

The Malaysian Insider, June 16 2008.

KOTA KINABALU, June 15 — The race is on to prevent Datuk Yong Teck Lee and the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) from leaving Barisan Nasional.

Several Umno politicians are in Kota Kinabalu trying to persuade Yong from making the SAPP an independent political party, a move that will reduce BN majority in Parliament by two seats and heap more pressure on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction,” National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.

“It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it,” she ...
